I am Jane Clutha and I'm here because I want to help you permanently conquer the barriers to your good health so that you are living an energised, long and healthy life - and so that you have control and confidence in your everyday decisions. I want you to feel good and look yourself in the eye and like who you see!
I strongly believe making changes to achieve better health is possible for all of us. I support people to make the changes they want to improve their health. I am passionate about making this doable.
I have worked in health most of my life and am all too familiar with the amazing health professionals who work at the bottom of the cliff. I'm passionate about being at the top of the cliff where possible as it is far easier to prevent health problems than cure them. Let's take some responsibility and try to stay out of their way by taking better care of ourselves. Good health isn't about pills, it's all about SKILLS.
I have studied and certified with several global coaching providers over recent years. I have learned about brain plasticity from Results Coaching Systems. I have learned how to train managers in the workplace to become more coachlike through Corporate CoachU. And I have studied with the Dr Sears Wellness Institute so that I can specialise in young families and in the over 40s health needs. I have had a coaching practice over the last ten years on and off while life continued in its merry way.
I knew I wanted to be a coach when I realised coaching is not really about treating or advising people. The art and science of making changes to our behaviour fascinated me. What also fascinated me is getting the right fit between coach and coachee. That needs to be right for the process to work. We will make sure we are a good fit in the first session together. If we aren't I can refer you on to find the person who is the best match for you.
Life shouldn't be a quandary or a struggle! It certainly has been for me at times even though I thought I was on the healthiest path possible for most of my life. How can you ever eat enough green veges?? I loved them and still do but sometimes that's not enough. It turns out life had other ideas for me. I had a pretty serious health shock in recent years that threw me off my path. Its scary to be told you aren't as well as you thought you were and that life in the years ahead may not be quite as simple as you had hoped and expected. I understand the normal human fear and confusion about what to do after a tough diagnosis. Its a challenge to change habits and do the hard yards. I really believe I have to do it myself, I can't rely on someone else or a medication to make sure I am as healthy as I can possibly be.
Certified Health Coach
Jane received her Health Coach Certification from the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute, founded by world-renowned physician and author, Dr. William Sears. The Institute is a leader in science-based health and wellness education that focuses on the four pillars of health; Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude and Nutrition (L.E.A.N.). A certification by the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute is obtained only after completing the extensive course work and meeting all requirements. Once certified, a Health Coach possesses the knowledge, tools and resources to make a positive difference in the health of others.
Why me as your Health Coach?
I offer a new slant on being healthy, one that takes ALL your life into account. I am friendly, warm and genuine. I offer many different forms of coaching - one will definitely suit you. Look at my Services page. I am not going to be telling you what to do - the choice is yours while I guide, challenge, support and help it happen at your pace and possibly in your place.
I believe we are all able to take charge of our own health and learn how to be aware of the decisions and choices we make everyday. I help you choose what really matters most to you and how to make that happen in your current lifestyle. It's hard to make changes, I sure know that and so do you! But when the stakes are high and our loved ones are watching - we've got to make an effort.
I can't recall a time when health wasn't an important priority for me and my family. I was fortunate to grow up in New Zealand eating fresh and healthy foods and getting plenty of exercise. Over time I have tweaked my foods and my eating habits as I learned new information, as new foods become available and because I love to experiment and play with foods. I am a mother of two wonderful adult girls, and of course they are grown women now! I love to grow my own food and be in the wild outdoors. Right now we have a huge edible garden and I adore being out in it.

I love to think we can live well and that it doesn't take too much effort once we change some of our habits, which is of course the hardest part. It's definitely more difficult now as both our friends and science are telling us new information all the time. This can be confusing and can stop us even trying to understand what is best for us. However eating as nature intended and nourishing our minds and bodies is the best solution to achieving the life you want. We are all wonderfully different and my job is to find out what works for you.
